'Lucy, why all of a sudden are you loving purple?' I hear you ask...
The answer is that this week from the 1st of December to the 7th of December, I am taking part in Crohn's and Colitis awareness week! As some of you may know, this year I got diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis and ever since have been trying to play my part in raising awareness through 'My Disease' blog posts. When I heard of the awareness week, I wanted to do something different and unique, something to grab peoples attention incorporating fashion and this disease.
So I present to you
LUCY JANES GO PURPLE WEEK!

Friday 1st December is #GOPURPLE day arranged by Crohn's and Colitis UK, but as a fashion blogger, I thought the challenge of a Go Purple week was much more fitting and where else better to shoot them than where I spend most of my time, ON THE TOILET! Don't take my poses seriously, it's all supposed to be a bit of fun! I set up a Just Giving page for this week to see if any funds could be raised, if interested in donating click here to read my story!

As humorous as my idea may be, I am here to state the facts and realities of these diseases in a light hearted way. Both Crohn's and Colitis are inflammatory bowel diseases which is rather self explanatory. Crohn's can be inflammation and ulceration throughout the whole digestive system and all layers whereas Colitis is just in the lining of the large bowel. They are chronic conditions with no cure and are treated with a range of drugs and if necessary, surgery. Symptoms range from bloody diarrhoea, no control over bowel movements, urgency, cramping, fatigue, weight loss, Anaemia and the list could go on. Maintaining these diseases is a trial and error process, each case is individual as the same treatments work differently on everyone. These diseases are also invisible, making everyday life a lot tougher effecting education, work, social and family life.

I'm taking part in #GOPURPLE because I want there to be a cure and I want them to figure out which treatment will work for each individual because living with this disease is H A R D. Every single person battling IBD deserves the world because the strength required to keep going with life is like no other.

Where are the TV adverts, the charity shops or awareness posters out there??
Please share this post, visit the websites I've linked and talk about IBD because nobody does!
We will fight IBD together!
